Different editions of the army book had different perspectives on the divide between commoners and the nobility.

The 3rd Edition described an extremely bleak existence of serfs in contrast of the extravagance and corruption of their rulers. Meanwhile, the 4th/5th moved away from the darkness, with the 5th picturing the nobility showing a great deal of honor and care for the plight of their subjects. The 6th and 7th editions introduced a more balanced outlook to the kingdom, with dutiful knights and the abject poverty of the commoners, much due to the impossibility of social progression for peasants (even if they served in the army, as a 90% tax is typically enforced upon them).

Also, there are suggestions within the 6th edition that the state religion of Bretonnia may have been a manipulation of the Wood Elves, descendants of High Elven colonists who first lived in pre-Bretonnia. It is hinted that the elves see the kingdom as a buffer force against any threat to their interests, but there are no such rules that prevent Bretonnian forces from attacking the elves. On the other hand, the Bretonnians still view the High Elves with honor and respect, knowing that the elves themselves stand for good, but possess fearsome military prowess.

Well, it is time for me to hand over the postings to JQ, and again, thanks for coming down to this blog with our shared interest in WFB! Take care, and gooooo Warhammer!Joshuahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16230157993054637844noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12396187.post-7105097762078557972009-12-28T00:07:00.000+08:002009-12-28T00:07:00.296+08:00Warriors of KhorneHey Everyone!

Hope you all had a good time over the Christmas weekend catching up with family and friends...of course it may seem to be a 'Hallmark' holiday for some, and for others (like me), it holds special significance in Jesus.

Taking a slight detour from our HE flavored posts, this time we are featuring JQ's Khorne warriors.

I remember the first time I read the Chaos army book, it left me very impressed with the art (like the pencil sketches spread across the book) and the writing (the chilling side stories) that fed into the general feel achieved in the book...a bleak and ashen aura that blanketed the northern wastes, the home and bastion of Chaos...an evil yet alluring entity, or even: a force we do not fully understand at all?

Of course the only thing that spoiled the overall Chaos theme for me were the old Chaos warriors, they didn't look like those in the illustrations at all, they were rather scrawny and not intimidating (in contrast of their awesome stats) and they really needed a new line to replace them. Well, the new Chaos warriors really look good to me, much alike the Chaos knights (one of the coolest figures around I think).

Interestingly, someone was inspired by Warhammer Online to make cosplay Khorne adept armor, and it was featured on the deviantart website.

Nothing much is revealed about the armor, other than it's a female set of leather armor.

http://shattan.deviantart.com/art/Adept-of-Khorne-female-armor-124884740Joshuahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16230157993054637844noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12396187.post-47529906304400005162009-12-23T13:14:00.004+08:002009-12-23T13:38:20.319+08:00The Elven StandHey Everyone

I was away for some travel, and just had some time to put some posts up, so this post is a little late.

This time, we have WT's High Elf commander, majestic and inspiring as he faces the Chaos horde with guile and alone.

The High Elves are ancient foes of Chaos, and the 2 have a shared history of hatred that stretches back into the dawn of time of the Old World. This pic turned out pretty nice, as it spells out the tension the lone High Elf feels against a horde of Chaos warriors, not your regular Joe-schmoes of the Warhammer world. Insurmountable odds? Is the noble elf hero doomed to defeat at the blades of Khorne? Dice rolls will only tell.

The majestic High Elves also have a pretty loyal fan-base, and if you're interested, there's a fan-fiction website devoted the the High Elves of Warhammer:

http://www.ulthuan.net/Joshuahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16230157993054637844noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12396187.post-37614527859721088772009-12-14T16:53:00.000+08:002009-12-14T16:53:00.655+08:00Amidst the SunsetHey Everyone!

Thanks to JQ for filling in for the blog for the past 4 weeks, and for all of you too for coming down and reading this blog dedicated to warhammer!

Well, we're continuing with the HE, and this time featuring WT's HE hero striking a dramatic pose with spear and shield at hand. (not to do any disservice to WT's painting or HE in general...realistically speaking, one needs to have head muscles of an ogre to be able to fight while wearing that huge ceremonial helm haha)

The story of the High Elves is filled with much tragedy and valor, for they have experienced great rifts outside (War of the Beard) and inside (Dark Elf split), and now face an old enemy from the past: Chaos. One of the most striking/dramatic stories for me was how the Druchii split from the High Elves, over the matter about succession of the Phoenix Throne...and as high and lofty the elves maybe, the harder they fall as they are inflexible to change their ways. Pathos and pride have been major threads in the history of the High Elves, and yet the High Elves remain as stoic and steadfast as ever...ready to engage those who dare defile Ulthuan, and answer the bugles of their allies as battle fills the air.

Onto other news...The Endless Trial for WH: Age of Reckoning has begun, and has pretty nifty restrictions to make sure freeloaders don't get everything...such as playing only Chaos/Empire, inability to choose server to play on etc. Of course, you still get to play for free for an unlimited amount of time.

Details can be found here:
http://www.warhammeronline.com/faq/index.php?section=11#ans11_1Joshuahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16230157993054637844noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12396187.post-89750691031567026952009-12-07T22:47:00.002+08:002009-12-08T05:02:17.316+08:00I'm a big shot Commander of the High Elves
This is a Portrait of Weiting's Elven Hero that he had acquired and painted fully last year.

When Weiting dedicated himself to painting a figure, he can come up with the most brilliant colour scheme and painting effects. I guess all of us have come a long way in honing our paint brush and painting our figures.

Nonetheless, I still hope that we all can manage to finish everything that we have and paint it all into its full glory and continue on with painting other new stuff.

Well in this picture, we see that haughty elf in a defensive pose. Somehow or another though, the elf figure gives out its innate characteristic of being arrogant while it is posing.
I feel it looks as if He is a big shot in the scene. Then again, it could be how the camera capture the elf.

But its quite a definitive to assume that he is a leader of the elves of Weiting's Arrow Merchant Army.

On a sidenote, I will be finishing up my Men-at-arms soon. Furthermore, I will pass the blog back to Joshua to talk more about Weiting's High Elf Hero and stay tune to mroe awesome warhammer pictures.

Its been good hanging out and talking about Warhammer stuff. I hope to give more interesting stuff and increase interest in the people who read my stuff.

CheersJiaqihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11819819387957016364noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12396187.post-63205613217502560542009-11-30T21:46:00.001+08:002009-12-01T14:06:34.134+08:00I'm not a Happy Chaos Warrior

RAWR. Im not a happy chaos warrior indeed. Chaos Warriors, the dreadful mortal warriors of the north wasteland. But what makes them dreadful is that they arent as normal as their southern counterparts.

Technically, they are humans too. Just that they all look like they are on steroids and are clearly a head taller than their Human counterparts. ANd last but not least, they always look angry.

But i guess that brings out more of the menace and fear that is Chaos.
It really put things into perspective when you put a Chaos Warrior next to a Halbierdier or a Imperial Militia. The Warrior exceed in height by a head at least; Even the old edition Chaos Warriors had a bigger bulk like rugby players compared to the normal Men-at-arms of Bretonnia.

And lastly i guess what differs them from the pure bred humans of the south is their affliction to chaos as you can see from this champion in which he has horns on his head.

Clearly the guy has some Skull issues. :P Nonetheless, the Chaos Warriors are second to none in terms of Stats against any other race. Add Frenzy and Other additional features and you can turn a regiment of Chaos Warriors in to a menace for any foot unit.

And yes, Even phoenix guards will have a problem with them.

Cheerios.Jiaqihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11819819387957016364noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12396187.post-5578197879951611402009-11-23T23:45:00.004+08:002009-11-24T04:51:55.695+08:00Two Men at Arms Buddies

Men-at-Arms often become brothers-in-arms. Camaraderie is never ever found far from any form of army unit. More often than not, Men have develop a certain brotherhood among each other. Especially when these men are put into situations that require them to put their lives on each other.

War though cruel, develop bonds between men-at-arms that are thicker than many in civilian life would not experience.

I guess that is why War is such an emotional and terrifying thing for men becos the next thing u noe it, ur brother-in-arm could be taken away from u.. and as the years go on and war drags on, U senses are numb to all the emotion and distraught of losing close ones around u.

Nevertheless, Camaraderie have also brought men to stand firm and stick together in the fight. In fact, thru such Unity, it incalucates great strength and high morale, which can be a deadly force compared to an army unit tht lacks the relations between each men.

So it is definitively acceptable to say Unity is Strength.Jiaqihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11819819387957016364noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12396187.post-7586832123367633842009-11-17T23:42:00.002+08:002009-11-17T23:57:29.787+08:00Leading the Fight

So along this entire year oh so, I believe i have been ranting with Josh about the frailities of Men in the Warhammer World. But hey... COme on, U noe im right ;) *sniggers*

Well this is a picture which speaks in contrast from the usual fuming questions of playing the Human race that is "Why warhammer keeps showing humans always getting killed and losing?"

Well here we see a lowly sergeant at arms raising his sword, and world the background around him is blur, it is easy to assume that he is leading his regiment against chaos warriors. The Spears and Halbierdiers around him are raised in defense and in defiance of the massive hulk that is Chaos.

I do not deny that Chaos are fearsome, terrifying and that the peasants, militia of Bretonnia and Empire would stand a slim chance at them, but this pic captures defining moments of defying the odds.

And what i wanna conclude is that, WHO DOESNT LIKE to see a Man-at -arm or a halbierdier kill a Chaos Warrior by himself?

HAHA with a lil luck. Tht can happen.. Although, Im pretty sure the Chaos Player would probably be swearing profusely.

On a sidenote, I will be intensifying my involvement in Warhammer since my exams are over and i have a holiday to take a breather. Furthermore, after so long of a depravation, I feel like being more involved in my local Warhammer Community. Integration is also underway. And yes, Josh and I will be discussing lots on it.

So stay tune.. and thnx for reading :)

Jiaqihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11819819387957016364noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12396187.post-18801677731344563572009-11-11T13:06:00.004+08:002009-11-11T13:26:13.219+08:00Meeting of the AncientsHey Everyone

Continuing with our High Elf theme, we have WT's Phoenix Guard with WT's lizardman saurus soldier. Facing off? It'll be weird since they have a shared enemy in the shape of the Druchii, and that they are both known not to invade in thirst of conquest. Negotiations? A meeting? It's up to you :)

The HE is painted by WT, while the lizardman is by paintedfigs.com.

The lizardmen outdate the high elves in terms of antiquity, having served the Old Ones, the creator of the 'new' races of dwarves, elves and men. It is interesting to note that lizardmen can tolerate outside presence in Lustria, after men have settled in various ports in the area...but are totally merciless when it comes to looting and stealing artifacts from them. Case in point: they actually invaded Naggaroth to reclaim an artifact stolen by the Dark Elves...something you don't hear too often.

About the integration thing, it might happen sooner than we had expected. No concrete plans yet, since we're gonna meet at the end of this year to really see where we can go with this project.

Thanks again for coming down to this blog, and it's time for me to hand it back to JQ!Joshuahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16230157993054637844noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12396187.post-81158176120448391322009-11-03T12:37:00.003+08:002009-11-03T13:06:01.622+08:00The Phoenix GuardHello Everyone

We really appreciate your readership, and it motivates us on to take more pics of our figures, and share our joy for fantasy, especially for warhammer.

For today's post, we have WT's Phoenix Guard in the foreground, with his halberd ready to strike down any foe who dares challenge this coterie of elves.

According to Warhammer lore, the Phoenix Guard take watch of the Shrine of Asuryan, which contains the Chamber of Days, where past and future can be known by anyone who looks upon this chamber. Those who laid eyes upon that chamber are said to be cursed with knowledge of their exact death (cripes). It is said that this drives the Phoenix Guards to fight in the fiercest battles as they know their exact cause of death, which removes any fear they have of death...makes me wonder how a Phoenix Guard will feel if he found out that he would die by choking on a pretzel. Will he laugh so hard that he'd get kicked out of the Guard? Just a random thought.

Well here's some news on the WAR MMORPG: the trial version will unlimited time of play pretty soon, following the trend set by D&D Online (Eberon), which offers free online pay for all users. I am not sure what difference there is in the trial version vs. subscriber version, I am guessing there could be limitations in items that can be acquired etc. I remember reading in a gaming website a few months ago that someone predicted that MMORPGs would shift from pay-per-month to play-for-free but pay for special in game enhancements. Here's a website that provides some details on this development:

http://www.gamerzines.com/mmo/news/war-unlimited-trial.htmlJoshuahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16230157993054637844noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12396187.post-46139358541336972192009-10-28T07:15:00.003+08:002009-10-28T12:02:13.982+08:00Elves...can't have a fantasy game without 'em!Hey Everyone

Thanks for coming down to this blog, sharing our common love for warhammer, and other fantasy games. Sometimes I wonder how fantasy for the next generation would look like...if it was swords and shields for us, would it stay the same for the years to come? Guns/firearms are already included into WFB kind of think of it.

Well, for today we feature a shot of WT's Phoenix Guard and JQ's Arwen figure, and of course, we can't have fantasy without them elves. They're everywhere, high, dark, wood, blood, sea, whatever haha.

A piece of extra-Warhammer trivia, the word 'Elf' has Old Germanic origins, and still survives to this day in the form of given names, such as Alfred and Elfreda. The origins of the Elves in real world history has roots in different regions, such as Scandinavia and Germany. Some viewed that people could become elves after death, while others thought of elves as mischievous and harmful beings, and even aligned with demons (Beowulf). According to Norse legend, Gandalf was the Last King of the Elves, a name Tolkien himself had consciously chosen (time for some kickass trivia to rouse the table during a game!).

The elves that we picture today have much to do with JRR Tolkien, who gave us the Hobbit, a seminal work that introduced fantasy as a 'high art' form. Drawing upon 19th Century Romanticism, Tolkien developed a mythology of the elves and gave them a definite form, much in common with the perception of elves we have now (eg. pointed ears, tall, wiser than humans...)...especially since they played humungous roles in the history of Middle-Earth. Tolkien became immensely popular in the 1960s, paving the way for the rise of high fantasy in the years to come (D&D).

So lo and behold, the Elves that we know today are actually a pretty recent concept, which makes me wonder how fantasy would be like for our grandchildren...(if we don't have them yet that is).Joshuahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16230157993054637844noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12396187.post-33141664244144303372009-10-20T12:47:00.002+08:002009-10-20T13:08:45.498+08:00Bret ArcherHey Everyone

A round of thanks goes out to JQ who gave us the last few posts on pics of our warhammer miniatures, and gave us some points to ponder about the hobby we share.

Man has not been without his weapons, and this time we are featuring another shot of JQ's bret bowmen:

The humble bow in history was a very simple weapon that was deployed over the ages, spawning variants such as the crossbow and compound bows. So one has to wonder, did early men just make bows out of wooden splints and strings? Well, historians believe that darts predated bows, and the atlatl, a primitive dart thrower, was the predecessor of the bow we know. It is a shaft with a cup at the end, and launches darts (which were actually long arrows or spears) by flinging the atlatl with the spear in it as shown in the next pic (www.texasbeyondhistory.net):

The atlatl is still used in Australia by the aborigines, and in sporting events across the globe.

When the bow was invented, it eventually replaced the atlatl with many advantages it brought to its users, such as higher accuracy and the use of elastic energy to generate higher velocity shots. Of course, firearms also eventually replaced the bow in later times. Although mankind continues to create weapons of increasing potency, let's not forget the honor and prestige that surrounded people who were skilled in the bow and masters of past battlegrounds, as evidenced in numerous mythological figures being associated with the bow...eg. William Tell and Artemis.

(of course that doesn't count when we curse our luck that st3 shots barely made a dink in your enemy's advancing army)Joshuahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16230157993054637844noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12396187.post-21776877940605048832009-10-12T15:06:00.002+08:002009-10-12T15:06:00.420+08:00Elven Archery

The Elves of the Arrowmerchant. (Finally with Background!)

For those who have followed our blog for a long time, i believe you have seen them before.
The Arrowmerchants painted by Mr. Tay Weiting. He takes forever to paint his elves, but through feedback, they look darn good.

Against the Sunlight, their silvery white armor gleams like angelic guardians of the world.
But of course, the elves have always been shaped to be seen that way.

Like immortals from a different time, they are like the UBER power race that represents the side of "GOOD"

Yet they remind me of the stereotypical generic characteristics of the Parisian french. Because they are so characteristically artful, articulate and graceful and superior in their combat and magic (though this part is not really similar to the french), they have character flaws of being arrogant and full of pride.

HAHA. Hope i didnt struck a nerve to anyone.

In any case, they are the trump card for the good guy side with all the perks of combat and magic. In a petty disgruntle way, it makes you wonder, where in the world did all the perks of being a human go?

Aside from this, my progress for my men-at-arms have come to a halt as i have to deal with reality and works and student life.

So i am gonna take a breather. But you will be seeing them real soon. Perhaps when the integration to one big hobby site begins. Im gonna be handing th ebaton back to My pal, Josh, And he will be taking over again , while i deal with the pinnacle of Student Academic Life.

Till then, Take care.. and keep GAMING!Jiaqihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11819819387957016364noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12396187.post-13213119600039256342009-10-05T14:04:00.002+08:002009-10-08T12:06:07.828+08:00Standard Bearer of the Imperial Regiment

Back again guys. And today, Its the Imperial Regiment's Standard Bearer. This pose just reminds me of the iconic Iwo Jima raising of the American Flag.

Its amazing how a Standard can raise the Morale of Troops in the battleground.

Through a standard, there is pride inculcated to be part of that regiment. Furthermore, seeing your standard bearer in the warfront is an inspirational sight amidst the chaos and terror.

And that is why in the Warhammer World, the standard bearer gives plus one to combat resolution.

Aside from that, I feel that the picture brings out the "Pondering Soldier" image in which while he raises his standard, his sword is low and he faces the ground. Perhaps, wondering if how many men have fall for this standard for the cause of war.

But doubt in the face of battle, will most definitely leads to more fallen ones if one doesnt fight for his brothers in arms and stammer at the sight of his enemies.

And perhaps the standard makes u forget all tht. Makes u remember the pride, the glory and the magnificent of ur regiment and why u r in it.

FOOD for thought anyone?Jiaqihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11819819387957016364noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12396187.post-73422835367667925002009-09-29T11:00:00.001+08:002009-09-30T02:33:50.865+08:00Imperial Perseverence.

Greetings again and I apologise for the late reply. I must say that it has been a busy time for me and it will only get more insane.

Before I start, I would like to say, Thanks to Yur for that really great comment and contemplation about my post. Josh and I do appreciate your continue support.

So here, we go more in depth into the IMPERIAL HALBERDIER.

The halberd is a two-handed pole weapon that consist of a axe blade topped with a spike mounted on a long shaft. Its a weapon that can adopt the attack method of the spear and yet cut down enemies like an axe. In a regiment, this weapons can have the same defense as a spear but have a more versatile attack.

However, in my opinion, against the swift force of a sword, a one on one duel would see the halberdier in a disadvantage as the halberd is a heavy weapon that is not as agile as a one handed sword.

Nonetheless, if you were a knight charging into a regiment of halberds, I think, you would probably think twice, (even when you wield a lance)

Well, on the painting progress for me, I have continued some minor add ups to my men at arms and it has been rathe rslow in progress. But don't worry, I will be getting back to it as soon as i have the time.

Though it will take awhile. As for now, Enjoy the pics. And Have fun!

CheersJiaqihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11819819387957016364noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12396187.post-12841228002955475012009-09-22T17:17:00.004+08:002009-09-26T05:17:01.726+08:00Imperial HalbeirdersGood day again. I am back with this weeks entry.

Today, we feature the sturdy resillient Imperial Halbeirdiers.

This models were painted courtesy of Paintedfigs.

I refer back to Joshua's entry in which he pointed out that he is dismayed by the common depiction of empire always getting beat up real badly by the unstoppable power of chaos.
I believe i have an explanation to it.

It all lies in one word: Humanity.

Throughout the age of man (in real life), we have seen great tyranny and despair. In its symbolism, it can be related to the power and fear that chaos strikes into our heart. Now if chaos were nothing but a small flu or a little snort on the north of the empire. Wouldn't the world be a far better place to live in.

In fact, in our modern world today, we are fortunate enough to not experience the tyranny or great evil that is chaos froma ny country or political regime. And we are glad to have super powers who adopt the stance of general goodness or fighting for the rights of humanity.

However, i wont go into greater detail of our present day. What makes Empire and Bretonnia so iconic? It is the fac tthat while man is a feeble race, they are capable of so many great things.

And it can only be seen through a time of hardship and despair. Heroes are never born in times of peace. But usually in times of great war or great tragedy.

The goodness of mankind is never more illuminated in that way. As a result, in the warhammer world, for such heroes to rise up, there must be the presents of a great evil or a great plague that seems to bring misery to the world in an unstoppable force.

Everybody likes a David & Goliath story where the meek or the weak truimphs over the Big and Strong.

The portrayal of Chaos whooping everyones ass is to further emphasis on its superiorty, so when the lesser races win off Chaos, there is a bigger sense of achievement through it.

To lift the Empire to a greater status than is portrayed in Images by Games Workshop, i say this, with all its might, its power, its darkness, corruption and UBER powerful stats, chaos is unable to sweep through Empire.

Even during the Mark of Chaos, which was a large global campaign that was held in which it centred upon Archaon, the Lord of End times, rallying a massive horde army to sweep past Middleheim and onwards more to the rest of the Empire, failed terribly.

It actually speaks alot of how great the Empire is. Face with such terror, the sturdy "David" of the Old World, stands Defiant against the "Goliath" of the north.

And like the picture displayed above, they are as relentless as their enemies, ready to stand fast against Chaos, no matter how lousy their odds are.

And that is essentially what Empire is. Don't you think so?Jiaqihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11819819387957016364noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12396187.post-80919043584254871362009-09-15T13:19:00.002+08:002009-09-15T13:43:28.227+08:00Bret BowmenHello Wargamers!

Hope you all are having a great day, and once again, we have a shot of JQ's Bretonnian bowmen, with bow strings taut, and ready to fire off a salvo of arrows onto foes of the proud kingdom.

To actually pull a longbow and shoot the arrow so that it pierces armor was an extremely difficult feat in Medieval times. The bowmen needed a high amount of strength, so much that skeletons of dead archers had deformed left arms, bone spurs (the onset of arthritis) on the left wrist and shoulder, and the right fingers. It was so difficult to master using the bow that English monarchs had to actively encourage the use of the bow throughout the kingdom...so that in time of war, they had a fearsome range advantage (the English were famed in Europe to be the best in armor penetration with bows).

Also, sticking arrows in the ground not only increased the rate of fire, but also the chance of infection upon the target...and arrow removal was not to pull it out (like in movies), but to actually push it through all the way in and out the other side (an extremely painful process, ugh). So maybe add an infection rule to arrows in warhammer? It'll be interesting...haha.

Well, it's about time for me to hand this humble blog back over to JQ, and once again, thanks for coming down and sharing with all of us the joy of fantasy miniatures and wargaming.Joshuahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16230157993054637844noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12396187.post-26878429966382685132009-09-09T10:44:00.002+08:002009-09-09T10:54:21.929+08:00Chaotic ChargeHello Hobbyists!

Continuing with our feature on JQ's Khorne regiment, we have a picture of a regiment of Chaos warrior champion charging into his Imperial foes.

As an Imperial player, I am kind of dismayed of the common image of Empire getting creamed by Chaos. In the trailers of Age of Reckoning and Mark of Chaos, Empire gets trashed. True fact I have to admit haha...and yet Empire troops may be best suited to fight Chaos with strong calvary, powerful canons, focus on shooters, wide range of magic etc. And yet Chaos is pretty suited against the Empire, with strong magic, high strength/toughness (for some units) etc. Of course, one can say the reason why Empire is always attacked by Chaos is by virtue of geography, bummer.

Is the warhammer world really all about killing? :PJoshuahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16230157993054637844noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12396187.post-88574388363108786892009-09-01T11:49:00.003+08:002009-09-03T22:53:09.342+08:00More KhorneHey Everyone!

Today we continue with another shot of JQ's Khorne warrior regiment, this time marching in a forest in search of glory in battle and death...this shot was taken with WT's canon ixus camera.

Interestingly, the major conflict between the Chaos gods, Khorne (war, hatred) and Slaanesh (hedonism, lust) is situated upon a fine difference between death and suffering. Khornate disciples strive to cause death with killing, while suffering...a product of such killing pursuits, serves to strengthen Slaanesh instead. It's pretty dark to remark that the ubiquitous soldier has less to fear from Khornate forces, since death is sometimes a better alternative to suffering, enslavement, torture etc. by Slaaneshi units.

Since GW has come up with such intricate Chaotic theology, sometimes I wonder if there's a chance that anyone who plays warhammer actively agrees with any of the Chaos gods, and inculcates it into their lifestyles. Of course that would seem pretty extreme, and yet don't we find ourselves committing some of the characteristics of the Chaos powers? Like hatred for others, lusting over a woman, desire to control fate etc., would be actions that religions will label as sin (at least I know for Christianity). At least for me, I wouldn't feel comfortable playing a Chaos army (with any of the gods in particular) and yet I cannot boast that I am so pure a person that I am 100% free of those sins, or 'Chaotic actions' in my life...which would point to my own need for Christ as my saviour from eternal death in sin (it's my religious viewpoint).

How do you view the fictional religion in warhammer (or other fantasty settings)? Do they intersect with current beliefs that you may hold?Joshuahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16230157993054637844noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12396187.post-41209612539503593402009-08-27T21:26:00.005+08:002009-08-28T00:34:40.528+08:00Annoucement PeepsI apologize but it seems like tht template for the Warhammer skin is going awry.
In any case i have used the standard blog skin to continue the blog.

But before we continue with our usual weekly post. Josh and I have ben discussing a few new ideas. Especially with regards to the two hobby blogs.

We are really grateful for the handful of u who actually frequent to see our pictures. But we want to do more.

AS you may have noticed, theres only so much we can do for Warhammer and Military Modelling jus taking our own pictures.
And we wanna make this a more interactive site wif more community involvment and also raised more awareness on the uber coolness of such hobbies and add extra stuff to show case our interest, humor and other activities.

As such, we are gonna implement an integration of Military Modelling and Warhammer. But not just tht, We are gonna be adding way more new stuff and interesting stuff that are not just our stuff, but a network.

While we have no intention to make it globally popular.. We wanna strengthen the Interest of various stuff as a whole and make it more applicable and appealing to other people who may wanna take these areas of our interest as their hobby.

As such, Me and Josh would like to welcome comments, feedback and recommendations that can most definitely create something out of this two blogs to make it better.

Almost 4-5 years for each blog. Its time we take a different step on our hobby interest.

Hope you guys will be agreeable with this decision.

WARHAMMER!!! AND MILITARYY!!! Personally, this edition of warriors look much cooler compared than their hunched-back predecessors, and when JQ got them painted by paintedfigs, I have to say that the folks did a great job.

These devout worshippers of the God of War and Hatred strike fear in all who take up arms against them, for they have no care of personal preservation and fear of death...for flowing blood is all Khorne desires. Even the basic warriors are pretty kickass units, packing quite some punch and strength, combined with strong Chaos armor, and even with the Mark of Khorne to boot. I am not a master of Chaos rules (especially with all these new editions), but I do remember that they have magic resistance and frenzy (which can go both ways) as some bonuses to add on to their units.

On a lighter note, I bumped into a WAR poster about...you've probably guessed it, 'Khorne Flakes'...har-har :)

I'll leave the merits of the poster up for discussion, but more interestingly the writer (Nine's Nonsense) talked about the emergence of the 'WOW-instant-gratitude' syndrome of today, where a market has emerged for players who want to get into the thick of action, without the arduous and time-consuming ingredient of a rewarding hobby: painting. I have to admit that I am an 'in-between', as my figures are painted by others, and yet I also recognize that I have a special bond with those units I painted myself, especially my Empire Knights. What about you guys?

If you have the time, do check the article out: It's All About the Merch: Nine's NonsenseJoshuahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16230157993054637844noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12396187.post-20158472371218538722009-08-17T11:20:00.001+08:002009-08-17T11:20:00.985+08:00Lord of the LandsLo and Behold, The Lord of Aisenhald. and a Bretonnian Lord.

This is my most powerful unit of the Bretonnian Army. It is the Lord of Aisenhald in Couronne.
The Bretonnian Lord rides upon his hippogriff and strikes fears to his enemies.

Resolute, Virtuos and Wise, the Lord beckons on his men to soldier on against the tyranny and darkness that roams freely in the lands of the dark.

This picture focuses on his face as compared to other pics that we have taken.

While i rarely take shots of the Lord, he is a magnificent sight in this picture wif the details of his armour. The picture gives the figure character and the imperfections on his helm makes him all the more attractive in my opinion.

I have yet to really make this figure looks as good as possibly can but i still left with many more impending things to paint and fix. After my Men-at-arms, it will be the trebuchet and the Pegasus Knights.

It seems neverending, but i guess that is why i love my hobby.
There is always something left to do.. Something left unfinish :)

Now, I shall leave take my leave as Joshua shall resume his one month of posting.

Keep visiting ;)Jiaqihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11819819387957016364noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12396187.post-10756533059455843422009-08-10T04:19:00.000+08:002009-08-10T04:19:00.401+08:00The Lonely Shield of the Man-at-arm
The Shield of the Army of Tempest.

The lone shield. Singular and in solitute. The Shield lies alone in the grass, awaiting its owners to wield it to battle.
But what has become of its owner? Has he abandon his post? Is he dead from Battle? or is the Shield but idling there while his owner is on an errand.

I tried to make this artful by focusing on the lone shield to give a sense of remembrance of the lowly Men at Arms.

Yes, the all too expendable Men-at-arms. Never getting a glorious moment and always expendable in the armies of Bretonnia. To make matters worse, the Men at arms have stats comparable to Goblins. Its a sad sight in which even the Imperial militia would laugh at.

But u can never forget the benefits of being the break force of the Knightly army. They are the mass in which through their numbers and attrition, they can turn the tide of battle.

This is but a small preview to my new men-at-arms which i will be featuring soon. So stay tune when my next batch of photoes will eventually show them.

On the modelling note, I have been able to assemble 12 Men at arms and am in progress to finish the last 4 to make up 16 of the new Men-at-arms. With a touch of creativity and last few strokes to finish the regiment, my new men at arms will be featured in no time. Definitely have done more improvements on these new version of the Men-at-arms compared to the old ones.Jiaqihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11819819387957016364noreply@blogger.com0
